At the Thelma McMillen Recovery Center, our top priority is to provide comprehensive outpatient substance use, abuse and addiction treatment for adults and teens in the South Bay area. Take the first step toward recovery by simply picking up the phone and speaking with one of our experienced intake specialists.
Referrals
We accept all referrals, including self-referrals and those from primary care providers, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, employers, attorneys, clergy members and residential drug and alcohol treatment programs. Learn more about referrals
The First Call
Making the first phone call is often the hardest step. Our staff is here to help and will treat you with compassion and respect. When you decide to make that initial call, here’s what to expect:
- Our intake specialist will ask you some easy questions – like name, date of birth, address, and contact information.
- After hearing your greatest need, our specialists will recommend the best treatment option or community referrals depending on your situation.
- If our program seems like the right fit for you, we will help you schedule a consultation with one of our experienced providers. We encourage you to schedule your consult appointment within 24-48 hours of your call.
- Please also have your insurance information ready, as we can verify benefits before your consultation.
Consult
For your first visit, you will meet with one of our experienced counselors in a comfortable and private office. We will ask you questions about your struggles with drinking, drug use, depression or anxiety and also assess your current environment including home life, relationships, work and any legal issues. Your counselor will then evaluate the need for detox, including Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT), and educate you on our program and provide insurance verification.
Once you make your decision, you may start treatment immediately. If our providers feel that you would benefit from residential inpatient care or another type of detox program, our staff will assist you in finding a suitable treatment option.
Private & Confidential
The Thelma McMillen Recovery Center ensures privacy for all of our patients. Our offices are comfortable and safe with private entrances and all staff strictly adhere to HIPAA laws and regulations ensuring your treatment remains confidential.
Cost & Insurance
The Thelma McMillen Recovery Center provides affordable outpatient drug and alcohol treatment and participates with a variety of insurance plans – just one way we strive to ensure that all who seek help can access care.
Before you are admitted to our program, our staff will verify your insurance coverage and determine your financial responsibility. If you do not have insurance or have high insurance co-payments, we offer several payment options and plans.
Financial Assistance
We offer a limited number of scholarships for qualifying individuals who do not have insurance or are unable to pay for treatment. Additional information is available during the your initial consultation.
Scholarships have been made possible through the generosity of Karl B. McMillen Jr., the McMillen Family Foundation and other community donors.
